Now has a Liner!
I found this pattern for an Easy Peasy Crochet Bag by Sharon at Laughing Purple Goldfish
I did alter it a bit by crocheting the bottom piece twice as long then folding it over a piece of plastic canvas to add strength to the bottom. Then I just followed her pattern from there. I also opted to crochet the handles as part of the bag rather than making them separate like she does. It is really easy peasy as she says. She also says all bags must have liners. She also has a tutorial for liners.
I pretty much followed her tutorial for the liner. So you can follow along with all her wonderful photos. I just did a couple of photos of my liner. I did do the option of adding a pocket. So I have a couple of photos of that. Pockets are pretty easy peasy too. Just cut a square of material, fold over for a hem and sew the hem in place. Then sew the pocket material onto your liner material.
Candy Stripe Bag’s Stats
Hook size used: G/6 or 4.25mm ( I know most G/6 hooks are 4.00 mm but Wal-Mart only sells “Boye” brand hooks and that is what their G/6 is.)
Stitches: The single crochet stitch was used to make the bottom piece that was folded over a plastic canvas piece that measured 3 inches wide by 11 inches long. The crochet piece was slip stitched closed around the canvas.
The half double crochet stitch was used to form the body of the bag in continuous rounds.
Two of the variegated stripes were alternating single crochet double crochet stitches on the same round.
Single crochet was used to trim around the inside of the handle and the final row of the top/handle of the bag.
Color of yarns used: The pink was a no label ball that was purchased at a thrift store.
The rest of the solid colors were Red Heart Super Saver 7 oz./ 198 g, 364 yds/333 m, 4 ply Worsted 1oo% Acrylic.
The variegated was Red Heart Super Saver 5 oz./141 g, 236 yds./215 m, 4 ply Worsted 100% Acrylic.
