David hurt his back somehow and he was having muscle spasms pretty bad.
So he has been spending a lot of time laying on a heating pad and reading this week.

This book was a pretty good read.
After a combat incident in Iraq, Cal “Spectre” Martin was grounded and told he would never fly an F-16 again. Years later, he has started a new civilian life with his F-16 pilot fiancée, still haunted by the nightmares of his last deployment.
But when she goes missing on a routine training mission off the South Florida coast, Spectre unwillingly finds himself thrust back onto the frontlines of the war on terror – this time, not in the skies over Iraq, but on the streets of Miami.
While searching for answers, Spectre uncovers a deadly international conspiracy that shakes his beliefs to the core and threatens national security. The stakes have never been higher as Spectre rises to overcome his inner demons, challenge his friendships, and take to the skies once again in a daring final mission.

This was a good read.
Every myth has a beginning.
After escaping the destruction of her home planet, Lanyr, with the help of the mysterious Solaris, Rynah must put her faith in an ancient legend. Never one to believe in stories and legends, she is forced to follow the ancient tales of her people: tales that also seem to predict her current situation.
Forced to unite with four unlikely heroes from an unknown planet (the philosopher, the warrior, the lover, the inventor) in order to save the Lanyran people, Rynah and Solaris embark on an adventure that will shatter everything Rynah once believed.

It is a good book.
Aden Garrett is fresh out of security academy and looking for a little excitement. A little more than walking security at local space station bars and a little less than the job that got him kicked out of the academy.
Meshelle and Janna are Vagnosian sisters that run a small transport and special operations ship, and they’re looking to replace a fallen crew member.
Chance brings them together and puts them work for one of the mysterious Kesari merchants who’s looking for some expendable assets for a special job. It’s a perfect match, except the crew of the Uma, Janna’s ship, doesn’t agree to being disposed of when the job is done.
What follows is a game of cat and mouse through the galaxy with twists and turns at every solar system. Lost alien civilizations, six limbed insectoid warriors, plasma rifles, and more await. Much, much more…

It is a good book and a fast read.
The Imperium isn’t what it once was.
In a realm of constant intrigue, backstabbing and economic decline, the saying holds true at any given moment.
Inspector Paul Grimm’s best friend has been framed for a murder that, technically, he did commit. Paul must follow the trail before it goes cold to find out who’s behind this latest attack on the powerful Nathaniel family.
To clear his friend’s name, Paul heads out to the Rim where Imperial colonies sit uncomfortably close to territory claimed by the Gray Quorum. In his desperate race to unravel the plot, he’s pulled into a web of intrigue along with Colonel Julia Urbica of the Imperial Marines. Julia’s local, irregular troops prefer to enforce the Emperor’s peace by finding trouble before it finds them and they adopt Paul’s task for reasons of their own.
Events escalate at every step, and Paul’s mission to help a friend is dwarfed by a threat to the very fabric of Imperial life. He must walk the knife’s edge between peace and outright war with an advanced alien species.
But then, perhaps war is just what the Imperium needs. The current peace has a stench of decay about it.
The Epsilon Incident

This book was a good fast read.
Veteran Defense Command corvette DCNS Sackville had come out of the Luna yards fully restored with a fresh coat of paint, and was on her way to Belt Two to be turned into a museum. Aboard was Admiral Ken Barron – the supposed ‘war hero’ who would cut the ribbon at the museum’s opening. Five years of flying a desk had tipped him into a self-diagnosed midlife crisis, and getting back into space was supposed to help. Instead, he and Sackville proved that clichés can happen – with just days to retirement, they stumbled into a crisis that could destroy them both, and kill nearly a million people.
Making an out-of-season transit to the Belt, Sackville discovered a massive rock on a collision course with the Martian colony, Asteroid Epsilon. It was 2240, and as Barron recounts in this standalone book, the Epsilon Incident was about to change the history of the solar system… again.

The characters were fun.
Josh Gunn detests space pirates. He hunts them down and brings them to justice – one way or another. When he and his android partner Cherry Kang close in on one of the worst, the fireworks start. After the big explosion, they wake up in a different galaxy with their spaceship crashed on an asteroid and shot to smithereens. When they get a derelict spaceship ready to fly with parts from their ruined ship and escape, Josh finds something he hates worse than pirates. Josh Gunn and Cherry Kang intend to hunt every last one of them down and make sure they pay.
