David’s Kindle Klearing # 14

Davids Kindle Klearing banner

David has been busy working on his urban prospecting these last 3 weeks. He has been reading but he only finished a book a week. I didn’t feel it was worth my time to just put up one book per week. So I waited until he had these four books kleared.

Very good book. The sidekick was very humorous.

In the hundred years since the Gaethe invasion, the exiled human colonies have watched and waited. Every year they send a lone pilot on the near-suicidal Home Run, a scouting mission back to Earth directly into the heart of enemy territory.
One of forty pilots engineered for the rigors of long-term space travel, Mars Cori has been training his entire life for the chance to see Earth with his own eyes. What he finds there could change the course of human civilization. The trick? Staying alive to watch it happen.

Capture 3 and half stars

David hoped it would get better, but it never did.

The year is 2285. Amidst our colonization of the solar system, humanity is locked in a low-intensity war with the hostile AI known as the PLAN. But Elfrida Goto, a field agent for the 23rd – century equivalent of the Peace Corps, tries to ignore the fighting. Helping and protecting space colonists is her job … even when that means evicting them from their homes.
It’s a crappy job, but someone has to do it. The UN’s grand project to terraform Venus requires asteroids–lots of asteroids–and next on the list is 11073 Galapagos. Tasked with evicting the asteroid’s squatter population, Elfrida faces a herculean challenge, not made easier by her aggravatingly opinionated telepresence robot … or her uncooperative local liaison. Jun Yonezawa is determined to preserve his people’s independence–with violence, if necessary.
But when a lethal AI fleet attacks Elfrida’s home base, her mission changes in a hurry. Now, she and Jun have just one chance to save the squatters on 11073 Galapagos. It means going up against the most dangerous enemy humanity has ever known. But Elfrida takes her mission of protecting space colonists seriously. What she doesn’t know is that her most dangerous enemy of all may be lurking close at hand.

This was a different kind of story, it was crazy in a good way.

Nuclear Missile…
A Band of Terrorists…
And Only Two People Who Can Prevent Armageddon.
When a doomsday cult captures an U.S. Air Force missile base, it’s up to a lowly sergeant and a female psychiatrist to prevent a nuclear holocaust. If you like the action adventure thrillers of Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Stephen Coonts, or Vince Flynn, you’ll love BALLISTIC.

A good long read with a good ending.

The Molochs seem to be born to fight. Being the most savage warriors in the galaxy they’re certainly the worst thing could happen to the Aristolans.
Powerful, intergalactic CEO Belen Morganthal can’t let the only genetically perfect race in the universe fall and disappear into eternity, a race that knows no evil and shows a gleaming beauty.
She is the only one with the means to carry out such an enterprise and the only one with the secret to convince Logan Ryvenbark to accept such an inconceivable mission. Captain Ryvenbark may be just the one having any chance against the Molochs, but he doesn’t like suicide missions.
