Almost every day I find something new in the wild flower bed. I looked at the picture I took of the box and it says there are 17 varieties of flowers in it.
I am going to describe some of my recent flower photos in a bit more detail. Some of them are not from my flower beds. They are some of the “wild flowers” (one man’s weed is another man’s flower) that have found their way into our yard from the horse pasture. 🙂
This is one of the pasture wild flowers. He is a fuzzy leafed plant for a while then he starts to grow stalkier. Then this stalk gets a bunch of little flower buds all up and down it. I have no idea what it is, but it is pretty at this time of year. After the flowers have bloomed and died the whole plant turns brown and dries out. Then you see dead ones all around the pasture from last year.
Then there are the uncultivated wild sunflower plants everywhere. This one is growing between the yellow squash and cucumber hills against the fence along the junk pile. It was the first flower to bloom on it.
I have gotten some pretty neat shots of the volunteer cosmos and petunia in the bed in front of the deck.
This is my favorite of the cosmos. I captured a lady bug taking a nap. 🙂
This is the first white cosmos so far. Most of them are a light pink to dark purple.
I didn’t notice the little bug in the center of the flower when I took this shot. When I looked at it on the computer I saw it and the flying ant-like bug above the flower too. I love it when I catch things flying around the flowers.
Here are some of the petunias.
They are ranging from light pinks to dark purples also. No white ones so far.
I am finding bachelor buttons in different colors. Most are purple with a few pinks thrown in.
Then I came across this one. A white one with purple center.
Then there are these orange and orangish pink ones. I think some of them are poppies, but I am beginning to think some of the ones on the pink side might be impatiens.
They kind of look like the ones on the impatiens box.
Yesterday I found this little gem. I have no idea what he is. I am thinking it might be a black-eyed susan type of flower or maybe some variety of daisy. I have no clue, but it sure is pretty.
Oh, I now have baby cucumbers! They are so cute at this stage!
