Dates stayed November 5 and November 6, 2014
We were up on the road early on the 5th. Where as we did a short trip on the 4th we did a monster haul on the 5th. We got to Albuquerque at around 5 am. We thought we were going to miss rush hour. It was still a crazy mad drive through 6 lanes of speeding cars. I wonder what it would have been like during actual rush hour traffic.
We finally ended the monster haul at this nice family owned park in Raton, New Mexico just south of the border with Colorado. After the crazy drive through Albuquerque, David did not feel like taking on Raton Pass through the mountains all in the same day.
The family was friendly and helpful. We were there in the off-season so I think they had the service center closed down. We were about the only guests except for some long timers and some storage vehicles.
We went to our site got all situated. We then filled up our water jugs and emptied the tanks. I then made use of the showers. It contained 3 stalls each with a changing area to the front and the shower to the back. The shower was hot and had good pressure.
After my shower I returned to our RV and made supper. I took a walk around the park after supper.
I found the cute little foot bridge. So I took this picture.
The park was a good size with plenty of room for our 28 foot RV. It has several trees that provide shade for most of the sites. The little foot bridge took you across the creek to the tent area of the park. I enjoyed my walk as it was fall, the air was crisp, and the leaves crunched underfoot.
This was a great little family run park I enjoyed my stay very much.
