David’s Kindle Klearing # 16

Well David has only kleared out two items on the Kindle. Even though we have been keeping busy with gardening, fishing, and home improvement projects I thought he would have more than that by this time. He was also playing Cribbage when I would see him with the Kindle. Although in actuality he read seven books as the two items he cleared were box sets. So I guess it was not as bad as I thought.  There will be no stars or one liner reviews this go around, just the books ma’am, and the blurbs.

Davids Kindle Klearing banner

David has been busy working on his urban prospecting these last 3 weeks. He has been reading but he only finished a book a week. I didn’t feel it was worth my time to just put up one book per week. So I waited until he had these four books kleared.

Very good book. The sidekick was very humorous.

In the hundred years since the Gaethe invasion, the exiled human colonies have watched and waited. Every year they send a lone pilot on the near-suicidal Home Run, a scouting mission back to Earth directly into the heart of enemy territory.
One of forty pilots engineered for the rigors of long-term space travel, Mars Cori has been training his entire life for the chance to see Earth with his own eyes. What he finds there could change the course of human civilization. The trick? Staying alive to watch it happen.

David hoped it would get better, but it never did.

The year is 2285. Amidst our colonization of the solar system, humanity is locked in a low-intensity war with the hostile AI known as the PLAN. But Elfrida Goto, a field agent for the 23rd – century equivalent of the Peace Corps, tries to ignore the fighting. Helping and protecting space colonists is her job … even when that means evicting them from their homes.
It’s a crappy job, but someone has to do it. The UN’s grand project to terraform Venus requires asteroids–lots of asteroids–and next on the list is 11073 Galapagos. Tasked with evicting the asteroid’s squatter population, Elfrida faces a herculean challenge, not made easier by her aggravatingly opinionated telepresence robot … or her uncooperative local liaison. Jun Yonezawa is determined to preserve his people’s independence–with violence, if necessary.
But when a lethal AI fleet attacks Elfrida’s home base, her mission changes in a hurry. Now, she and Jun have just one chance to save the squatters on 11073 Galapagos. It means going up against the most dangerous enemy humanity has ever known. But Elfrida takes her mission of protecting space colonists seriously. What she doesn’t know is that her most dangerous enemy of all may be lurking close at hand.

When a doomsday cult captures an U.S. Air Force missile base, it’s up to a lowly sergeant and a female psychiatrist to prevent a nuclear holocaust. If you like the action adventure thrillers of Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Stephen Coonts, or Vince Flynn, you’ll love BALLISTIC.

David’s Kindle Klearing # 13

Davids Kindle Klearing banner

David finished putting BOB’s drive line back in its proper place. He says he barely notices the vibration now. The whole time we were gallivanting around the southwest in 2014 he was worried that the drive line was just gonna drop. Now his mind is at ease about that. He also has been preparing to concrete around the shed steps, in other words he started digging a hole. He has also gotten the bug again, the gold bug. He has been pulling out some of his computer parts doing a bit of urban prospecting.  So he only read two books again this week. These two were older downloads. So they are no longer free. Both are now available for $3.99 US.

Davids Kindle Klearing banner

David’s back was feeling much better this week. He was able to do some maintainance on BOB. He pulled the drive line down which is in 3 sections, replaced a carrier bearing and a U-joint on the first section. He put that section back up, started BOB put it in gear and gave it some gas up to 40 miles per hour. The vibration under the driver’s seat was not there. He then put the 2nd section back up and repeated this process. The vibration was back. So he took the second section back down and replaced the U-Joint on this section. He has not put this section back up on BOB yet. He may do that today. Hopefully this will take care of the vibration. 🙂  So anyway he only finished two books this week.

Chance brings them together and puts them work for one of the mysterious Kesari merchants who’s looking for some expendable assets for a special job. It’s a perfect match, except the crew of the Uma, Janna’s ship, doesn’t agree to being disposed of when the job is done.

The Imperium isn’t what it once was.
In a realm of constant intrigue, backstabbing and economic decline, the saying holds true at any given moment.
Inspector Paul Grimm’s best friend has been framed for a murder that, technically, he did commit. Paul must follow the trail before it goes cold to find out who’s behind this latest attack on the powerful Nathaniel family.
To clear his friend’s name, Paul heads out to the Rim where Imperial colonies sit uncomfortably close to territory claimed by the Gray Quorum. In his desperate race to unravel the plot, he’s pulled into a web of intrigue along with Colonel Julia Urbica of the Imperial Marines. Julia’s local, irregular troops prefer to enforce the Emperor’s peace by finding trouble before it finds them and they adopt Paul’s task for reasons of their own.
Events escalate at every step, and Paul’s mission to help a friend is dwarfed by a threat to the very fabric of Imperial life. He must walk the knife’s edge between peace and outright war with an advanced alien species.
But then, perhaps war is just what the Imperium needs. The current peace has a stench of decay about it.

Veteran Defense Command corvette DCNS Sackville had come out of the Luna yards fully restored with a fresh coat of paint, and was on her way to Belt Two to be turned into a museum. Aboard was Admiral Ken Barron – the supposed ‘war hero’ who would cut the ribbon at the museum’s opening. Five years of flying a desk had tipped him into a self-diagnosed midlife crisis, and getting back into space was supposed to help. Instead, he and Sackville proved that clichés can happen – with just days to retirement, they stumbled into a crisis that could destroy them both, and kill nearly a million people.
Making an out-of-season transit to the Belt, Sackville discovered a massive rock on a collision course with the Martian colony, Asteroid Epsilon. It was 2240, and as Barron recounts in this standalone book, the Epsilon Incident was about to change the history of the solar system… again.
