October Occurrences

Well here we are on the second day of October. It was actually nice out again so Mom took me outside. I hung out around the deck while she went around to the shed to pick peppers.

When she was done she came back over to me.

I was stretching my leash out trying to get around to the south side of the deck.

So she asked if I wanted to take a walk.

She didn’t have to ask me twice. I am a slow walker though. I like to stop and smell things even if it is just the breeze in my face. The breeze can carry so many different smells. I love the breeze in my face. Now breezes are just fine for sniffing, but not those gusts or straight winds that try to blow the fur right off my back. Nope, don’t like that!

This is a video of my walk it is about 4 minutes long.

So even though on some sunny days I beg Mom to take me out, she says, “Sorry Bug Bug(one of the many of my nicknames), it is super windy today. If it is nice tomorrow I will take you out.”

Well today it is sunny out. I have begged Mom to go outside. It must not be too windy today. She says” I will take you out after Nick goes to work and I get Dad up. I don’t think you would like to go out right now. The sun is melting the frost from last night so it is wet. You would not like getting your feets wet. ”

So here I lay patiently waiting for Mom to take me out after she does all that. Heck, I might even have time for a nap.

I was just waking up from my nap when I saw Mom walk by.

She was walking over to the entry way closet. Then I heard her open the closet. Well I jumped down off the couch and came waddling to the front door because that meant she was getting my harness and leash out.
She took this 45 second video of her trying to put my harness on one-handed. She had to stop filming after she got the neck part snapped together because she needs both hands to snap the chest part together. She has to hold me up so I am standing on my back feet so she can see what she is doing and make sure she doesn’t pinch my fat roll.

Well it had gotten windy since Mom went out around 7 am, so I only stayed out for 10 minutes. It was long enough to curb my yearning to go outside though.
Now we have reached the 8th and it is cold, cloudy, and wet again just like yesterday. Dad says we are not going to get a temperature much over 40 if at all for the next week. BRRRR! Guess I will be staying in for a while again.

Mom caught me waking up from a nap. She got this awesome photo of me yawning! She was so excited that she got it too!

I got a chance to go out again on the 20th. It was a nice day. Dad was doing some work out on the deck so we had to go out the side door. I went down the steps first and was well in front of Mom. I did not walk in the leaves that were piled in the grassy area by the wind. Mom just walks right through the piles. It made a very loud crackley noise that startled me and made me fluff up my tail! I had to run to get away from that noise.
I just kept on going right on by the deck steps I didn’t stop until I found this small clump of catnip by the wildflowers.

After I was calmed down with some catnip, Mom was able to get me over to the deck steps. I was able to relax even more in my catnip jungle. Only thing is, it has all dried up into brown old sticks. It is ok though you can still rub all over it and get lovely smells from it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was drooling like a teething baby. I had a wet spot in my fur under my chin and got my neck strap of my harness pretty wet too.

Until next time, stop and smell the catnip! You know I always do!

September Stuff

The weather has been pretty nice this month yet, so I have been out and about to enjoy it. I like to lay in the grass by the house. It smells sooo good. The sun reflecting off the siding makes this a warm spot to just soak it all in.

A warm spot with fabulous smells.

I get my fill of sunshine and smelling the grass. It is now time to get my catnip fix. I head under the steps into my catnip jungle.

I will just squeeze in here. (sucking in my gut)

When I do not get to go outside I like to sit on my perch in the bedroom. It is Mom’s sewing machine cabinet which is in front of the window. I like to smell the air if the window is open. I sometimes see rabbits hopping around BOB, turkeys strutting through the yard, or little birds flitting around in the grass. I also see the neighbor’s cats or some wild stray ones. I really give them the evil eye from my perch in the window, but I don’t think they see me.

Take a photo already, I need to get back to looking for intruders!

I still like to help Mom with her crocheting and photo shoots. On this day I had to make sure she had the yarn just right so it would show off the crochet project best.

A little more to the left.

I probably won’t be getting much outside time for a little while like in the begining of the month. It has been a bit chilly the last couple of days and that white stuff was all over the ground yesterday.

It’s too early for this white stuff!

Well that is all for this month. Mom said she will try to post for me on the last Saturday of the month from now on. So there won’t be long gaps in my page. So until next time, stop and smell the catnip!

How Did You Celebrate Independence Day?

This is how Sully celebrated Independence Day yesterday morning.

He got a snootful of fresh catnip by the front steps.

Then he laid back and was mellow all day.

Another Gorgeous Day

For Yard Work and Catnip!

It is another gorgeous day. It is a balmy 74 degrees with a slight breeze now and again. Tomorrow’s forecast 63 for a high, 20% chance of precipitation, and wind gusts up to 35 mph. It goes down hill for Tuesday Night: Rain before midnight, then snow. Areas of blowing snow after midnight. Low around 31. Blustery, with a northeast wind 15 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
So I took advantage of today’s weather by cleaning up another small patch of the yard. I am working my way slowly down the front of the house. I don’t want to over do it after being sedentary all winter. Sully wanted to spend some time smelling catnip again. 🙂

The before shot of today’s patch.

I raked it all into a pile then sorted out the sticks and twigs.

I took the sticks and dropped them off by the burn barrel.

I took the leaves and added them to the pile in this area of the garden.

Sully was done sniffing catnip and was ready to go in. 🙂

Sully Saturdays # 11

Mom has been keeping her promise to take me outside more. I still am not too sure about going for the walks. I am trying to get use to wearing my vest and leash. I don’t like it. I don’t want to move in it. I want to just lie down. If I do walk in it I creep low to the ground in it. I am getting better though.

I really only want to go outside just to lay in the catnip at the bottom of the steps and chew on a bit of grass. Mom says I need to walk though to help me loose some of my tummy. So she lets me do this for a few minutes then she gives me tugs so I will walk around the yard with her.

On one of my outings Mom used another old leash and tied me to the handrail by the stairs. She didn’t think I wanted to go anywhere anyway. She did some leaf raking just around the corner from me. She looked over every few minutes to see that I was still ok. I got enough catnip so I thought I would be a little brave and smell around at other things. Well  I tugged enough and was able to escape my vest and leash. I was just going under BOB when Mom noticed I was loose. She came after me and was trying to pick me up. I stayed just out of reach. I was near BOB’s front tire when she almost had me. Then something startled me so I ran up the side steps. I waited for Mom to let me inside. That was enough outside for that day.

Mom says she is gonna try to crochet me a different kind of harness and leash. She is still thinking how she wants to go about it, though. She got some old key rings and some lanyards at the Senior Citizens Garage Sale a few weeks ago. She will use the rings, hook clips, and plastic snap thingys from them. She will get it figured out.

So any way Mom took a bunch of photos of me on one of my outings. It shows just how much I have been enjoying the catnip at the foot of the stairs.
