California Here I Come!

Well not me personally, but one of my crochet items sold today!

One of my long time online friends purchased it. I put a status on my personal Facebook that I had other things besides cold weather gear, like these little coin purse and other small bags and pouches. So she messaged me that she was interested in this one but she had to wait for her new debit card. Well it came today. So I packaged it up for her and David took it to town this afternoon to mail it.

A Nice Day for A Photo Shoot

It was so nice yesterday, I decided to do a photo shoot for two new hats. There was just enough breeze to play with my hair, no wind machines needed. lol I used my usual backgrounds of the two trees and the bush. Today though I decided to use BOB as a background he was getting lonely as no one visited him all this winter. 😛

A New Toddler Crochet Item Available on Ebay

40-toddler-pink-ribbed-fold-up-brim-beanie

I started with the brim first. I like these ribbed brims. You can start with them and then crochet the beanie part directly to it by doing several rounds then do decreasing rounds to close up the top. I have also seen patterns where you start with the beanie then do the ribbed brim, but that involves working the ribs into each round of the beanie using a stitch I am not familiar with. So I did the brim then the beanie then matched them up and single crocheted through both. That is the dark pink round between beanie and brim in the above photo.

This was supposed to be an adult size beanie, but it didn’t work out that way. Most adult beanies are 60 stitches around. I made my brim piece 14 single crochets across then did 59 rows. When I joined the ends together with single crochet that gave me my 60 stitches that I could match up to a beanie. I like these ribbed brims because they are pretty stretchy. I tried it on, it was just a bit snug, that was ok not to tight, not too loose.

I then moved on to the beanie.

I was using Front Post Double Crochet and that tends to be a tighter stitch. I should have actually done a few more rounds to get the adult size. I also think I should have used my J/9 – 6.50 mm hook.

Oh, well! It still made a cute little beanie.

A Camera Case for Nick

I like to make things for my kids, Kay, Justin and Martin are easy they like hats so I can always find a new style that they may like or sometimes they request one. Nick is not much of a hat wearer so whenever I find a project I can do for him I do it. I decided to make a camera case. He did not get a case and his camera was getting all dusty just sitting on his desk. So I whipped one up for him. He also has a Canon Powershot camera similar to mine.
I used a different technique for his though. I used rows and in the round crochet to produce his case. It was done in green of course because that is his favorite color. I will be posting a photo tutorial of the pattern in the future. So stay tuned for that. For now here are some photos of his camera case.

Got A Red Hot, Hot Red Skull Cap Here!

I finished this little skull cap up the other day. It was a front post double crochet pattern that I wanted to do. I need more practice with this stitch and this was a cute little cap. It worked up well except when I  missed a double crochet way back in round 3, I did not notice it until I had finished round 8, and had to pull it out back to that mistake. Then later on during the rework I missed a front post so had to pull it out again. I really should not try to do this stitch when I am tired or have other things going on around me. Lol 😛

The photo shoot was easy enough just one items to get in the picture.

Here are the Particulars and the item photos. You can find it on ebay here.

Blueberry V-stitch Set Photo Shoot

Blueberry V-stitch beanie, scarf, and fingerless mittens photo shoot. Too bad it is sooo freaking cold, the snowy fields would have made a great background. So it was an indoor shoot. These range from serious to silly. It is hard to get all three in a photo. I would be a good model if I wasn’t the photographer and a good photographer if I wasn’t the model. I hope you enjoy them anyway.

Christmas Cowls for the Kitties

It is that time a year, I have to make the kitties look festive.

A Scarf for Martin

Marty really likes scarfs so I decided to make him one that matched a hat I already had made him.

I decide on this one.

1-martins-camo-and-orange-chevron-beanie

I have not tried to make a chevron stitch project yet. I thought this would be a good project to try stitch rather than a whole afghan. The beanie is actually v-stitches strategically placed to form a chevron pattern so it doesn’t really count as a chevron.
