Monday thru Friday in Photos

I finished this beanie this week. I used the Quick and Easy Double Crochet Beanie Pattern By Kris Hopper

I did alter it some. The wide rainbow stripe is an alternating single crochet stitch and double crochet stitch on the same round.

The rainbow edge is *3 sc crochets in one stitch then sc crochet in next 3 stitches*  repeat around.

I used a I/9 or 5.50 mm hook. Colors are 3862 Jade Redheart Super Saver and 950 Mexicana Redheart Wintuk.

The beanie measures approximately 7 inches from crown to edge. The circumference is approximately 21 inches. This beanie is a bit snug on me, so I will list it as a teen/ small women’s size.

We also did some fishing at the city ponds on Monday. These were the two very nice rock bass I caught. I out fished David this day.

Wednesday evening we had a hail storm. The stones were about marble size. The wind blew pretty good too. The next morning I noticed a robin hanging out on the ground in the driveway. I then noticed the little baby she was going over to feed. The poor little thing got blown out of his nest. He is not quite ready for flying he just hops about. Mom has been taking care of him well. I found him resting this afternoon under the clothes line trees  when I went out to bring in my laundry. I was about five feet from him I used my zoom. He just sat there quietly while I took down my laundry. Yesterday I came upon him while I was weeding a flowerbed around the deck. I almost petted his head reaching for some weeds. I shooed him off over in to the grass. I kept my eye on him while I finished doing my outside work. His mom came to feed him a couple of times while I watched.

The Motivation Continued

right on inside to the housework yesterday!

When I had finished doing all the outdoor chores for the day, I came inside and started on the housework. I had already started with the laundry so I moved on to doing the dishes. After that came the vacuuming. I did all the rooms but didn’t think you needed a photo of each one. Please take the dishwashing poll at the end of this post.  😀

I also used this motivation to switch the screen in my bedroom windows. I rearranged my bedroom a while back so now I have access to the west window. This is where some nice cool breezes could come in but my bed was in front of this window and the headboard blocked it.  I didn’t want to spend another summer with my room being a toaster oven. Anyway the south window had a screen, but the west one didn’t. So I removed the screen and put it in the west window. I don’t need the south one open. I can keep it closed and not let in all the heat from the sun during the day. While the west one can be opened now and let in those cool breezes.

OMG! The Internet is Down!

Whatever Shall We Do!

The internet was down most of the day, yesterday it came back up after 5pm. I was ok with that. I spent all day crocheting and watching ” Xena: Warrior Princess” I have the first 3 seasons on dvd. Also it was another cloudy, windy, coldish day for May. So staying in bed all toasty in the blankets, crocheting , and watching dvds is not such a bad thing. 🙂

When I got up at 6:30 it was all sunny, with some dark gray clouds to the south, and a gentle breeze. I decided to hang out the sheets I had washed the day before. I hung the sheets came back in and started cooking breakfast. Well by 7:06 those clouds had moved north and the breeze had become a wind. I thought, well as long as it is not raining the sheets should dry. I went to check on them around 9:00 they were still wet like when I first hung them up. Was not raining but the humidity was to high for even the wind to dry them after 2 hours. So I brought them in and put them in the dryer.

This is what I accomplished in my crocheting. I was able to finish a wide-brimmed, floppy hat. The pattern I  used Natural Colored Floppy Brim Hat By by Linda Cyr of Vogue Knitting  I used the instructions for the large size. As you can see in the pic of me it is a bit large on me. If I had my glasses on it sits right on top of them.

I then started a new beanie. It is a new pattern for me. It  is a granny square style pattern.

Dave was a little bummed about the internet being down. It was “Triple Coin Tuesday” on his Castle Age game. He found the Kindle and spent his day reading on the couch and listening to the radio. When the internet came back up Dave was doing his Castle Age until after midnight. He did get a lot of reading done though. I checked the Kindle when he got on the computer, he had cleared out several titles. He is a fast reader. 🙂

P.S. After posting this I got a notification that  it is my 50th Post !!! Whooo! Yippee! New Trophy on the Case!

Capture 50 posts.

I Think It Is Feeling a bit Like Spring!!

We are still here in Nebraska at our home base. It was 50 degrees at 6:30 this morning and the forecast calls for a high of 74 today with a light wind 5-15 mph. Sounds like a laundry drying kind of day to me! So I hung a load of shirts out to dry.

It is also a good day to start doing some of the spring cleaning yard work. Dave got out a rake and worked on this area of the yard. I helped move obstacles around so he could get under them. Then we moved the old awning off BOB to an older spot of the garden area. We rolled it out and placed tires on the ends to keep it in place. The bind weed is bad here so we hope to starve it out. This will also attract fishing worms.  🙂  So we can peek under it every now and then for them. Oh, need to get those fishing licenses too!

We also need to deal with all the gopher and mole mounds.  We have had some busy ones. They put a large stock pile inside the bottomless old goat house.  Dave will move the dirt to the new garden area he wants to start.
