Mom finally got around to making my new collar. She had to finish up some bucket hats first. She made this one in Red Heart Super Saver 0886 blue. She used a 4.25 mm hook and the half double crochet stitch. She got the clip from one of the lanyards she got at the Senior Citizen’s Garage Sale a few weeks back.
She says it will be my indoor collar.
I sure do look handsome in it.
She will make me an outdoor collar using the hardware from this old collar.
She needs the silver loop so she can attach my leash.
Not much else going on. I want to go outside.
I go to the front door and look up at the door knob, then look at Mom.
She says it is icky and cold out. I don’t believe her.
So she opens the door and lets me look.
Yep, its icky out.
I guess I will have to stay in and hang out with Mom.
Sully Saturdays # 11
Mom has been keeping her promise to take me outside more. I still am not too sure about going for the walks. I am trying to get use to wearing my vest and leash. I don’t like it. I don’t want to move in it. I want to just lie down. If I do walk in it I creep low to the ground in it. I am getting better though.
I really only want to go outside just to lay in the catnip at the bottom of the steps and chew on a bit of grass. Mom says I need to walk though to help me loose some of my tummy. So she lets me do this for a few minutes then she gives me tugs so I will walk around the yard with her.
On one of my outings Mom used another old leash and tied me to the handrail by the stairs. She didn’t think I wanted to go anywhere anyway. She did some leaf raking just around the corner from me. She looked over every few minutes to see that I was still ok. I got enough catnip so I thought I would be a little brave and smell around at other things. Well I tugged enough and was able to escape my vest and leash. I was just going under BOB when Mom noticed I was loose. She came after me and was trying to pick me up. I stayed just out of reach. I was near BOB’s front tire when she almost had me. Then something startled me so I ran up the side steps. I waited for Mom to let me inside. That was enough outside for that day.
Mom says she is gonna try to crochet me a different kind of harness and leash. She is still thinking how she wants to go about it, though. She got some old key rings and some lanyards at the Senior Citizens Garage Sale a few weeks ago. She will use the rings, hook clips, and plastic snap thingys from them. She will get it figured out.
So any way Mom took a bunch of photos of me on one of my outings. It shows just how much I have been enjoying the catnip at the foot of the stairs.
Sully Saturdays # 10
Today Mom dug out my harness and lead because I have been sniffing and looking at the doors to the outside.
She put my harness on me. I forgot how it felt to have it on but Mom said if I wanted to go outside I had to have it on. She set me on the ground. I looked around a bit and saw the neighbor guy. I didn’t know him or know what he would do so I ran under something familiar. That big noisy house car thing. Mom calls it BOB the RV. She says to me that she didn’t bring me out to hide under Bob so she gave me a little tug.
I decided I would go check out the front deck then. I was calming down because I found a bit a catnip to sniff. Mom didn’t let me do that for long she picked me up and put me in the grass under the clothes line.
Bob and the Grassy Area
Mom Sat me down in.
this is an old pic.
I sniffed around there for a few minutes and I found a dropped turkey feather. I gave it a couple of good sniffs. I was then distracted by the chickadee in the tree. This was all just too much excitement for me. I headed back over to the front deck and up the stairs to the front door. I wanted back inside. Mom rang the door bell so Dad unlocked it so we could come back in. Mom says she will start taking me out in my harness and lead more often now that it is getting warmer. I think I can get used to it again so I can walk around the yard with Mom without having her tug me.
Can you believe I used to spend hours and hours outside, now it scares me. I was made an inside cat, because I stayed outside all night long too many times and I was wandering across the county road getting way to close to the highway. So Mom and Dad decided it was time I became an indoor cat.
I have adjusted to being inside pretty well. I get to lay on Mom’s chest anytime and get scritches. I like when she does that. It makes me so happy I purr and purr like a motor boat what ever that is. And then I just can’t control myself I start to drool, I believe I have mentioned my drooling problem before. Mom was able to finally get you some photographic evidence of my problem on Thursday.
I also continue to assist Mom in her crocheting endeavors. Thursday she needed my help wrapping this skein of camo yarn into a ball. The skein was getting loose and prown to tangling.
After we got done with this Mom began working on a visor for my nephew Martin. He is that small baby thing I have only sniffed at once or twice. Any way Mom just finishing it up about 4 hours later and I wanted my scritches so I laid down on her chest. She tied up the loose ends and weaved them in. She then decided I needed to model it since I was right there. Well you all recall how much I LOVE modeling…. NOT!
Sully Saturdays # 9 Two Baths In A Day!
I was having a lovely day minding my own business on the bed enjoying the sunshine.
I thought it would be a nice spot to enjoy a warm bath also.
Mom comes in later and she says, “I am gonna give you a bath today, I have been telling you that you need one for a couple of weeks now. ”
I am thinking I just took a nice warm bath in the sunshine here. If you recall I came to live with my human family in March of 2006 I was probably about 4 to 6 months old. So I am getting on in age, around 10 years now. So like any aging person I have had trouble doing somethings now. I don’t jump as well as I did when I was younger. I am also not as flexible as I once was. And yes I have gained some around my middle. Well because of that I can’t always reach my rear end to give it a proper cleaning. This is why Mom said I needed a bath.
So she grabs me up and takes me into the bathroom, she closes the door, now I have no route for escape. Now I have had this kind of bath before but it was a looooong time ago. She turns on the faucet thing to adjust the water temperature. She turns that other knob so the water is now coming out of the hand-held nozzle. Then she puts me in the tub. She does not plug it though. She learned a from experience not to do that. It makes us kitties think we are gonna drown. She starts to spray me down this is not so bad. Then she puts some soap on a wash cloth and starts to rub me down. This is when I start to cry and meow like she is killing me. If you recall Mom had told you that I mostly just squeak. But this was some serious stuff going on, so I found my “She is killing me” voice. Well I tried to get out of there but Mom had a good grip on my scruff. I did get a claw into her shoulder pretty good. Then I just kept grabbing her shirt every chance I could. She gently removed my claws from her shoulder and her shirt.
That is when Dad came in to see what was all the ruckus. He then knelt down beside Mom and petted my head. He was telling me I was ok talking to me to comfort me and calm me down. Mom finished scrubbing me and rinsed me off. She then wrapped me in two towels and rubbed me dry as best she could. Then she let me out of the bathroom.
I went out into the kitchen and had a bit to eat. That helped me calm down some more. Then I sat in a spot of sunshine and dried my feet. I was a bit mad at Mom for this bath experience. So I went back to the bedroom to be alone for a while. Mom came back later and put me on my window table and brushed me. It helped my fur dry and it felt good. It also helped me forgive Mom for the bath. I know have soft, nice smelling fur.

Working on Wednesdays
I have been helping Mom out a lot lately. The last two Wednesdays I have been especially helpful.
Last Wednesday I was helping Mom will she was computering on the laptop. I jumped up on her lap. I was making sure she was doing it right. She thought I wanted some attention. (Which I did but can’t let on that I did cause you know, I am a cat.) So she starts petting me and giving my neck and chin some scritches. I have a problem when I get scritches I start to drool because it just feels sooo good. Well then she hit that spot that causes me to flick my head because it was feeling just a bit too good. Yep, you guessed it, I flung that drool all over the laptop keyboard.
Mom says, ” Sully! Eww! Yuck! ” but she was laughing as she said it. She knew it was her fault for scritching me in that one spot. She then set me down on the floor and got a napkin and wiped down the keyboard.
The Wednesday before that I was helping Mom hold down this yarn. It was just not staying still, moving all over the place. Mom wasn’t going to get any crocheting done with it doing that. So you see I was very helpful.
Silly Sully Photos
Mom has been a little photo happy the last couple of weeks. Every time I would come and hang out with her she would take photos. Some of them were pretty cool, others ehh, not so much.
So here they are.
This set she was using the low light setting on the camera. It was night-time and she had the electric lights on. That is why these look orangey. I guess she was practicing extreme close-ups or she really thinks I have a very handsome nose. She might have just been trying to get a nice eyes wide open shot too. I have a nice smile in the extreme close up of my nose though.
This set she didn’t use the low light setting and no flash. I think it was early evening so there was still a bit of sunlight coming in the windows.
The first photo she caught me being lazy after my bath. I forgot to pull my tongue in. The rest are just nice photos of me staring off into space or staring Mom in the face wondering why she is taking photos again.
I was napping on Mom’s lap on this sunny afternoon.
I was trying to get Mom to pet me but she wouldn’t. She was working on a new coozie frisbee so I started messing with the yarn. Instead of petting me and giving me skritches she put the frisbee on my head. I guess she thought it would make me a nice little hat.
I was not amused.
She knows I don’t like to model hats, so I ran to the end of the bed to lay down and pout.
New Cat Cowl Photo Shoot
Well Mom made my new cowl Christmas night. She made it in Camouflage green with a light tan/off white trim.
She used a H/8 – 5.00 mm hook and single crocheted a piece 11 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide. She then single crocheted the ends together. Fastened it off and weaved in the ends.
I was too big for even a large kitty collar. So Mom bought me a red medium size dog collar even at its smallest it was to big. It was ok though it worked well with my vest she bought for when we went RVing last year. She wanted to be able to take me outside for fresh air and exercise. And most parks require pets to be on a leash.
My Red Collar while RVing.
So this year we did not go RVing and my store-bought collar was getting kind of rough from me scratching at it. Since Mom started this crocheting thing. I have been quite helpful. I don’t really have a use for money. So she seems to be paying me in collars. So Mom made me a nice orange and black one. She cut the red one up and used the hardware from it.
So she cut this one up and reused the hardware once again. This time she made a blue and white one.
The first picture is of the blue and white one brand new. The second picture is it just a month ago. Mom decided it was time for a new collar.
This time being it is now December she tried something different. So I would have a collar appropriate for the Christmas season she made this one out of a variegated red white and green. She measured my neck and mad it just slightly bigger and wider than a normal collar. She then slip stitched the ends together and just slipped it over my head. Of course I had to act all bad and attack her as she did so. It was more like a neck cuff or maybe one of those cowl thingys I see in her crochet books. But I nearly have this one all scratched to a fuzzy mess too.
Mom said she would make me a new one with the hardware again after Christmas is over. I haven’t decided what color I want this time or maybe just another cowl but slightly narrower than my Christmas cowl.

When I left you last time I told you about one of my hunting adventures. I know it didn’t end well, Mom didn’t approve. I was just showing her how well I was doing in my hunting lessons with Punky.
I didn’t always know how to hunt I was just a little kitten when I arrived at Mom’s home. When I would play outside, the girl’s cat, Punky was a lot nicer to me. She would play chase with me. One day she saw me chasing bugs around, pouncing on them, and eating them. She said I was doing pretty well with hunting bugs, but could I catch mice. I said no never caught a mouse. So she decided to take it upon herself to teach me to hunt “big game”.
So I started to follow her around outside at first I would just watch from a distance. She would catch a mouse or bank vole. They are similar to a mouse but have short tales. They lived by the creek that ran behind the house. She would bring it to me alive, so I could practice chasing, catching, and releasing it again and again. That is what kittens do when first learning to hunt it is a game to them.
Punky continued to teach me everything she knew about hunting even the part where you eat your kill. Once she was confident in my new-found hunting skills, she retired. She left all the hunting to me. She took to just relaxing in the sunshine on the porch. She passed away in 2011. I miss her from time to time she was a good teacher.

Sully Saturdays # 3
I was all settled with my new family. I had found my place was to be mom and dad’s cat. I loved it there. I had the best of both worlds. I got to go outside all day to play with bugs, chased Punky around, Feisty didn’t go outside, or went to the park with the kids. I got to come in at night for food and a warm bed to sleep in. I didn’t have to sleep out in the cold in a storm drain anymore. >^_^<
One night not long after I started sleeping with mom and dad, I heard something in the room on the floor. I jumped off the bed to investigate. I saw a small furry creature with a long tail and glowing little beady eyes. I started to stalk it, it saw me and started to run. I gave chase it was fast and tricky, but I caught it.
I was so proud of my self. I decided to show mom what I have caught. I jumped up on the bed. I walked up mom and dropped the furry thing on her chest. She woke up, saw the furry thing, and flicked the blanket sent it back to the floor. I jumped down again chased it around and caught it again. That was fun, so I gave it back to mom, she flicked it again. Whoo hoo, I was off again!
Well mom was yelling at me by this time. I thought she was just being encouraging. Dad was finally waking up to all the commotion too. I jumped up on the bed and dropped the furry creature on mom for a third time. She flicked it on the floor again. Dad got up and had a shoe in his hand. He saw the furry creature and he smacked it with the shoe. It didn’t move anymore. He picked it up, took it to the bathroom, and flushed it down the toilet.
I guess mom was tired of playing the game.
How I found my Place in the House.
I liked my new home with the girl, her mom, dad and brother. I got to go outside, chase bugs, and go for walks with the girl and boy to what they called the park. I was let in the house at night along with the other cat Punky. She was always with the girl when we were in the house. I learned the reason we had to come in at night was because of something called a racoon, would eat the cat food if they left it on the porch. So we came in to eat at night and stayed in until morning. Now there were 3 of us cats in the house.
As I mentioned there was Punky who hung around the girl a lot.
There was also Feisty, she hung around the boy.
So at night I would wander around the house looking for a good place to bed down. I would try to go sleep with the girl but Punky was there. She would hiss at me and smack me in the face with claws out . Ok, I can’t sleep with the girl. So I tried to sleep with the boy, but Feisty was there. She hissed and smacked me in the face with claws out too. I continued to wander through the house, I found my way to mom and dad’s bedroom. I jumped up on the bed. No other cat here. No yelling to get down or go away. So I curled up on mom’s chest and went to sleep.
I had found my place in the house. I would be mom and dad’s cat.
I thought since I made an About Page for Sully I should let him do a post from time to time.
Hello, I am Sully Buggy Boy Didier but you can just call me Sully. Mom is the only one that ever uses my full name. I am sure you have seen me around here on my mom’s blog. She decided that I could post a post for you. So this is my first go at it. I thought I would start off with how I came about having such a long name.
It all began back in the early part of the year 2006, I was living in a courtyard at a hotel. (I learned what it was called later but at the time it was just outside the big building.) When this blonde human girl came out to visit me one day. She tried to come near me, but I would run just out of her reach. Then she held something out towards me. It smelled divine. She asked me if I would like some cheese. That must be what that divine smell was. I came over slowly and carefully grabbed the cheese then ran away again to eat it. She continued to visit me in the courtyard almost everyday. She started calling me Sully when she visited. She would bring me more cheese, or chicken or lunchmeat. I was starting to get use to her and was even letting her pet me. Sometimes she would bring another blonde girl with her that she called Mom.
I had seen the girl and her mom go into the big building a lot. I got lonely one evening and thought I would go find them in the big building. When someone opened one of the doors I ran in. I looked everywhere but could not find the girl or her mom. There were other people in the building they were nice to me but then they put me back outside. I guess I was not supposed to be in the big building. That is when the hotel manager told the girl that she should take me home or he was going to call animal control on me.
The girl brought a cat crate to the courtyard and convinced me to get inside. She then took me into the big building. She put me in a place she called the basement. I did not like being in the cat crate or the basement. I let everyone know it too. They took me home when they had finished work. I did not like riding in the noisy car thing.
The girl let me out of the cat crate on the front porch where she showed me the food and water bowls. It was very different at this outside. I did a little exploring but as night came on I hid in the grape vines. The girl and the rest of the family thought I had run off at first but Dad saw me hiding. As the days went on I got more comfortable with my new outside. I would run, play, and chase bugs then eat them. So Dad called me Buggy. I still answered to Sully too. We lived at this outside until April of 20o7. We moved to a new outside that had fields on both sides, a dirt road for the noisy car things and a little further was a paved highway for the noisy car things.
I was allowed to roam the fields and have many adventures. I was always called in to the little house just before dark or a little after. Dad and my human brother would call and call for me. They even whistled for me like a dog. (I think I am one 64th dog, because I would come to a whistle.) But I would not come in until Mom came out whistled for me and then yelled SULLY BUGGY BOY!! So, with this particular cat anyway, if your full name is used by your Mom, you know you are in trouble and better answer and get your tail home.
And that is how I got my name.
